David Stout  Fine Artist

Colorado Fine Artist David Stout has developed a tremendous appreciation for the aesthetics of landscapes and still life as portrayed in his paintings.  Born in Nebraska he moved to Colorado as a young boy and spent many summers in the Rocky Mountains camping and fishing and observing his surroundings.  His interest in art began in High School and he continued to develop his passion through his formal education at Rocky Mountain School of Art and Design, Colorado Institute of Art and the Art Students League of Denver.

Dave works primarily in oils and pastels but fell in love with pastels while using them on one of his first plein air painting trips.  He liked the immediacy of pastel.  “Their rapid application and intense color make the media conducive to plein air painting.”  Dave is equally passionate about the still life paintings he creates in his studio.  “I love the process of controlling the light, subject matter and composition.”  As a result of years of painting from life his work displays a strong sense of design and he is a master at handling light.

Dave’s paintings have been exhibited in many National and Regional shows including; The Knickerbocker, Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of the West Coast and The Artists of the West Exhibition. Wadle Galleries LTD was proud to exhibit and sell David's paintings for years alongside an exclusive roster of top American artists.  His work has also been represented in top galleries in Colorado and Arizona.

He is currently selling his paintings directly after his gallery in Santa Fe closed its doors last year. Dave usually has about a dozen paintings ready to sell in his inventory, but will gladly take commissions if a patron has an interest in a painting of a special place or subject.

Dave resides in Colorado and is happily married to Cindy, his high school sweetheart.  He has two children Anna and Matthew and one granddaughter, Emery.

Dave has been featured in several fine art publications including American Artist.
